These sessions are part of my ongoing MA Dance research, designed to explore how movement can foster connection, healing, and personal growth. While my training and primary dance style is Odissi, these sessions are not Odissi dance. Instead, they emphasize a range of creative contemporary forms and embodied practices, drawing inspiration from multiple traditions. Rooted in my pedagogical framework, these sessions encourage phenomenological inquiry—inviting participants to explore movement from within their lived experiences. Whether you are a professional dancer, dance educator, or community member with no formal dance background, these sessions are designed to enrich and complement your existing practice, supporting both personal exploration and technical growth.
These sessions are designed to welcome all, extending a special invitation to queer, non-binary, and trans individuals, persons with disabilities, and older adults (65+). Whether you’re new to movement or have previous dance experience, you’ll join a small, supportive group where we explore together—creating space for every body and every story to belong.
This is not about mastering steps or striving for perfection. These sessions are not formal dance classes but spaces where you are encouraged to show up as your full, authentic self. Whether you move every day or for the first time in years, you’ll be invited to meet others where they are and co-create meaningful experiences through movement.
Throughout these sessions, we will engage with themes such as:
While elements of Odissi-inspired movement may occasionally emerge, these sessions draw primarily on creative contemporary practices. Our time together will explore how the stories of the past meet the present through movement, offering space for reflection, dialogue, and shared growth.
These sessions are not about reaching specific goals but about shared discovery. Movement, storytelling, and cultural exchange form the heart of this experience, helping us to deepen our understanding of ourselves and one another. Together, we’ll embark on a journey where the process itself becomes the most meaningful outcome.
In this space, every body, every story, and every experience is valued equally, and movement becomes a pathway to personal growth, connection, and meaningful change. Guided by a pedagogy that emphasizes co-creation, decentralized leadership, and shared learning, these sessions intentionally move away from traditional class hierarchies. Everyone’s contribution holds significance, fostering a sense of collective ownership where participants learn from each other and grow together. Here, leadership is fluid, emerging organically from the group, and the learning process is collaborative—ensuring that every voice is heard, and every movement has meaning.
